The 1957 class of Classical High School in Springfield, MA raised $10,000 in donations to benefit Springfield public school teachers. This $10,000 alumni gift was matched by a Challenge Gift partner bringing the funds available up to a grand total of $20,000.
This $20,000 gift is being used to fund the needs of Springfield teachers for classroom materials and supplies not readily available through the current school department budget. Full consideration is given to all projects submitted. The alumni committee will make decisions on which projects to support on an ongoing basis.
This gift is intended to spark a wave of "citizen philanthropy" from Springfield public school alumni, local residents and business partners along with community foundations. Our goal is to make this a continuing activity for the benefit of teachers and students in the Springfield school system.
