This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are currently faced with outdated, unreliable computers. They are disappointed when it is their turn for the prized "choice time" and they are met with an "out of order" sign on the computer.

My students come from diverse educational, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

When it comes to math and reading, they enter my classroom at different levels of competency. But one thing they all have in common - the uncanny ability to work a computer!

My Project

During choice time, the students have the ability to independently practice the skills that are taught in the classroom. New computers will insure my students have the ability to apply their newly gained math skills, using their favorite programs - "Interactive Math Journey" and "Math Munchers". These programs allow the student to keep track of their progress throughout the year. Students also use the computers to practice their reading skills using "AR Reader". If our technology is not replaced soon, it will no longer be available.

Funding for the project will insure my classroom has interesting ways to reinforce a somewhat mundane, yet CRITICAL skill - math facts.

Additionally, the computers will be used to build on the reading skills that my students are developing at their different paces.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
