I currently teach 5th grade in Montgomery County Schools. It is a low income area and more than 50% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. I have only been teaching at this school for two years and my classroom library does not have many books. My students do not own many books because their parents just can't afford them. Troughout the year, we have book fairs at the school and children can order books through book club, but sadly very few of my students do this. Many of them enjoy reading, but do not have enough exposure to books. I would really like to provide my students with a world that involves books. I am requesting 20 books to add to our classroom library as well as 2 books for each of my 17 students. I truly believe they will become better readers as well as emphasis the importance of books in their lives. I would be very grateful if you could make this happen for my students.
