This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All students should have the opportunity to learn a foreign language, because it helps them open their eyes to other cultures around the world. About 90% of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged, making it a challenge for them to obtain the needed supplies to excel in my class.

I teach the German language to 9th through 12th grade students at a high school in Texas.

At the beginning of the each year, my students are responsible for getting themselves a pocket sized English to German dictionary, but for some students that is asking a lot. My students use their dictionaries every day in my class and without one, students would not be able to get class work as well as homework completed. My students work hard to do well in school but if they can not afford the needed materials then they will not be able to live up to their potential.

My Project

I want each and every one of my students to excel in my class and that is simply impossible to do without an English to German dictionary at their sides. I would like for each of my students not to have to stress about not being able to afford a pocket dictionary for my class. They use their dictionaries to help them with their writing, reading, and speaking. By the time they have completed my class, their pocket dictionary is their best friend but I do not want my students to struggle to provide themselves with the needed materials for my German classes.

If these dictionaries were supplied to my classes, then my students would be able to learn more efficiently and they would be able to learn about the German language and culture much easier.

They would become better global citizens.
