My students need a larger writing easel for more sentences.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is very active. My students often need redirection, but keeping them entertained and engaged is the most helpful thing. We often sing songs and clap during times of transition. They remain most engaged when I make them move around during the learning periods, using whole brain learning.
My students thirst for learning.
They are a diverse group of learners who come from the inner city. I aim to provide them opportunities to learn and understand through their own questioning and experiences. As kindergarten students they are usually experiencing school for the first time, and want to succeed. They often want to please me through producing quality work. They want to show off their new skills when they learn something. The joy on their faces when the "light bulb clicks on", is amazing. My students have made tremendous gains this year, and continue to feel successful within the classroom. I want these feelings to continue with them through their academic careers.
My Project
I have two writing blocks per day that ensure students learn and produce high quality work. One session is for grammar and phonics, the other is for summarizing stories. Having a larger easel will allow students to see more clearly in which to copy from. The student writing books and bins will help students to keep organized both their thoughts and their materials.
My students also enjoy writing on the teacher easel to provide sentences for the next days work, or to practice writing their sight words. The current board is tends to fall apart, and is therefore unsafe. Having a new board will help keep students safe, and give them the privilege of writing and practicing, ensuring their feelings of success.
Writing notebooks for students will allow them the opportunity to have a bound portfolio to see their work over time.
They will have the opportunity to see their own growth. Having a student understand their own success over time, solidifies in their mind that they can succeed in future endeavors. These materials will be helpful in producing that work, and keeping track of it for all students.
