As a teacher in the inner city, the challenges and hurdles to overcome with any class can be a bit more daunting than expected. The look on a child's face when they have succeeded in what they thought would never happen, is what makes the world move in a classroom. The ongoing challenge for students to keep working, keep fighting, and keep succeeding is immense, but it can be accomplished. I strive to keep my students learning at all moments of the day. I strive to keep them engaged and remind them of why learning is important to their lives. Teaching a child to read and opening a whole new world for them, is a feeling that can never be explained through words, it is only feelings. Children know when they have achieved something amazing, and that is another feeling that should encapsulate a classroom at all times.
