My Students

My students like to work on our two class computers. What they LOVE though, is to see their work printed and published.

I teach a great group of third grade students that are highly motivated to learn and succeed.

My school's population is quite diverse socio-economically and culturally. My students' language arts skills have a wide range also, from advanced to beginning English language acquisition.

My Project

One of my main goals this year is to improve students' skills in writing. I would like to guide my students through the writing process of drafting,revising,editing, and publishing. We need a printer and ink cartridges to print the students' final drafts. Having a color printer will also help the students develop their descriptive writing skills. Most of us have heard the saying, "A Picture Paints a Thousand Words". With the requested resources, the students will print colored images, and then "Paint a Picture with Words". These images will be springboards for student writing. They will be visual reminders to help the students recall sights, sounds, textures, and/or emotions about the topics. The students will then create well developed, detailed, descriptive paragraphs.

When students see their writing in print, they have ownership and pride in their work.
