Who's Bad In Badminton Tournament

My students need 20 racquets and 10 birdies so they can play in a school-wide "Who's Bad in Badminton Tournament."

My Students

Physical Education for a lifetime. Students can play badminton in school as well as at home, or in the park. It is a great game for physical activity and motor skill development. All sizes, ages, genders can play it as well.

These students are in Middle School grades 5-8.

It is in a public school so you all know about "budget cuts." My Physical Education budget will no longer let us play our school wide "Who's Bad In Badminton Tournament." The students love this unit but are not going to get to play it this year due to lack of equipment.

My Project

This Badminton Unit is a 2 -vs-2 round robin school-wide tournament. The students learn how to work with others to complete a shared goal. They also learn how to read a bracket and know where and who they are going to play next. They really get involved in this unit. They go out and buy or make team jerseys. I have students come back after going to college and come in and play a few games with these students. The championship games are played in the gym with the whole school (225 students) watching. We have announcers and official score keepers, they really enjoy it. The fans (students) make signs and chant while watching. My students need racquets and birdies so they can play!

Our students need to know the importance of physical activity for a lifetime not just while they are in school.

This game exposes them to a game/activity that all ages, genders, skill levels can play for a lifetime.
