What Character are You?

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students hear many great stories which they are expected to retell and dramatize through dramatic play. In the beginning of the year when my students had to dramatize stories they had no props to help them. These props and felt pieces would help the students make the stories come alive.

My students love to act!

When we dramatize stories they really take on the role of the character they are acting like. Purposeful play helps children grow socially and emotionally. They will really benefit from having extra props to help them take on many roles.

My Project

Up until this point of the year my students make their own props, which is great and creative, but if they had these extra props they could really retell the stories to their full potential. Dramatizing stories helps students in all aspects from appropriate social behavior to becoming self regulated learners. These story telling materials would help them become great! I am ordering felt board pieces for retelling the three little pigs and goldilocks as well as a storytelling set for billy goats gruff. My students loved these stories so much that I can see their excitement now when it arrives. My students next year will benefit even more because we will have these felt board pieces to use while I am teaching the sequence of events in the story. These resources will sky rocket the imagination and creativity in my classroom.

There are 5 kindergartens in my school.

I am ordering one set for each class so that 100 students would be impacted by this. The students will be able to learn through mature, purposeful play. Their imaginations will sky rocket when they see all of these story board pieces. I hope that this will inspire their creativity into creating their own amazing props.
