This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the magic associated with playing at a concert or playing a musical instrument for the first time? Two hundred sixty students are in music/band at our school and the few low quality stands we have are falling apart. Help them experience the magic with equipment that truly works!
"Work Hard.
Sound Nice." is our school band motto. My students work hard every day in band and would benefit from having equipment that works as well as they do!
Students in our urban school in Texas work hard every day. They go to school from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily and some stay after for extra-curricular offerings. Our budget is very slim and students have become accustomed to doing a lot with very little. Our school band is in its fourth year of existence and has very limited resources. This is a real challenge, because we have added 6th grade band and have over 100 students, who are beginners this year! As a college preparatory school, we prepare our students for the "real world"; therefore, I want my students to have the opportunity possible so they are ready for high school band, college band, and beyond. By funding this project, you will make students' dreams of being in a school band a success!
My Project
Playing music without the aid of a music stand is incredibly difficult and doesn't allow an instrumentalist to have appropriate posture. Imagine watching a band perform where all students are staring at the ground instead of at the audience! We are requesting 24, high-quality, music stands and reeds through this project. The current stands we have are a safety concern and we want better for our students. Your donation would mean so much to the 260 students, who will use these throughout the year!
You have the opportunity to impact 260 students this year and more students in the future through this project.
At our school, we try our best to teach students about helping other people and showing gratitude. If this project is funded, I know my students will see that people they don't even know care about them. My students "work hard" all the time. Won't you show them love by "being nice" and taking a stand for music with us?
