My students love to read. We have multiple times throughout the day where students can read by themselves, read with me, read aloud, and read to partners. During these times they show their love of reading.
I have 17, 3rd grade students with varying reading levels.
I have students who are just learning to read and I have others who are reading chapter books. My school is located in a very low income community. We have over 50% on free and reduced lunch and most get help with school supplies at the beginning of the year. My school is really focused on reading and we are working really hard to align our lessons with Common Core standards and meet our students reading needs.
My Project
Right now our library is a mess. We have books sorted in different bins, but some of these are too small and we certainly do not have enough to organize all of our books. It is much easier for students to find books when they are well organized. I would like to sort our books by genre as well as have some reading level bins. These bins would greatly help students pick the right book.

These students are so excited and ready to learn. They are also so thankful. We get excited for new staplers and I know organizing our library with book bins would put huge smiles on their faces. I also know that this will make our reading experience much easier and better!
