Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Every band has a drum-line. The drum-line provides the band their heartbeat.

Our Title-I, urban high school has a highly sought after HBCU style marching band that has a versatile repertoire consisting of popular, concert and jazz music.

The 60 student (and growing) band has 35 songs memorized and we're constantly adding more each week. We perform at least once every month of the school year.

My Project

Our percussion instruments are so old/out of date, it is impossible to find parts for repairs. We are looking to not only replace these instruments, but also maintain them and protect them with durable cases and covers for our future percussionists. My students can really use Marching Bass Drums, Marching Bass Drum Cases and Marching Bass Drum Covers to replace the old and broken ones.

Replacing our 15+ year old broken bass drums, and purchasing the equipment needed to protect our current marching drums/new marching drums will not only improve the sound of our band, but it will also improve the lives of the students by allowing them to play and perform on working instruments.
