Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Using trackpads on netbooks is like circumnavigating the globe on a bicycle. You'll only see a little bit because you're moving so slow! Help us speed it up a bit and see the world!
My students are a mixed socioeconomic group of kids who have a ton of potential.
As with all of the students I've worked with, these students need help to reach their potential. Our school is an organized, loving environment with a lot of dedicated teachers. Still, we are all concerned and working very hard to help them achieve success. It has not been easy, but I know we can get there.
My Project
We have some technology resources in my school because my district wisely emphasizes the importance of student preparation for the digital age. There are two major problems with the currently technology. One is that on the netbooks we have, it is very difficult to navigate on the tiny trackpads. Imagine trying to create a PowerPoint presentation with one of those tiny things! The second problem is that we are in an open concept school, and noise is a major issue. When students are using technology, the noise level can be overwhelming. So to resolve these problems, I am requesting headphones for each student and six computer mice for the netbooks.
I suppose that this project could appear to be unimportant to the outsider, but these are resources that I have sought for a long time because students need to be able to focus intently on their tasks, especially their technology projects.
