My Students

Imagine the joy on my children's faces when they see for the first time how a plant grows from above and below the surface. Won't they be proud when they have finished the unit and have their very own plant to take home.

I have a very energetic classroom of 18 PreK students who are so excited about learning.

They come from low income households and have been identified as at risk. They LOVE learning about new things, especially when they get to create something that they can call their own. It is wonderful seeing the sparkle in their little eyes when I bring out a new activity to do with them.

My Project

With the flower pots I am requesting my students will each be able to plant several flowers of their own. While they are growing we will be watching and recording what we see. This will help teach them several skills including the parts of a flower, what plants need to grow, recording information, and making predictions. At the end of the school year the students will be able to take the plants home with them to share with their families. The root vue will be used so the students can see how the root of a plant is important.

Without your help and support I wouldn't have to pay out of my own pocket for all of these supplies.

Your support will be GREATLY appreciated. Most of my students would not have the opportunity to experience planting flowers because of financial reasons and the fact that most of my students live in apartment buildings with nowhere to plant outside.
