Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love technology and using technology in new ways. A visualizer and a webcam would make it possible for me to invite lots of visitors to our classroom without the inconvenience of Chicago traffic! The visualizer would make it easier to share materials in a whole group setting.

My students are in fourth through eighth grade and all have some kind of disability.

Learning can be so difficult for them, but in spite of it, they are excited to try new things in our classroom and they love technology. Adding a webcam and a document camera to our projector would bring our classroom into the 21st century.

My Project

I am asking for a webcam, a document reader and a media cart. These new resources will build on the opportunities the projector we recently got through Donor's Choose has allowed us. Being able to use print materials to model reading strategies will be more effective and allow for a more concrete product that students can refer to. Having visitors in to share their lives beyond a school setting will inspire my students to work hard in school and to dream bigger.

This project will provide me with materials that will affect every student who comes through my classroom door from the moment they arrive at our school.

These materials will provide for traditional academic skills as well as exposure to new people and places.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
