Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Bring back videos into my P.E. classroom! It is almost impossible for my class of 60 students to watch a video on a 1990's 22 inch TV.

My students come from a low-income community with minimal exposure to technology.

The majority of my students are English Language Learners and require more than just direct instruction. Because this school is a K-8 school and held on an elementary campus, space and resources are limited. Physical education classrooms are overcrowded and average around 60 students per class.

My Project

I believe that by incorporating a video projector into my classroom, I will be able to accommodate the needs of my students. Having a projector allows me to project a large image on the board for all of my 60 students to see from anywhere in my classroom. I will be able to show students a variety of instructional videos which will provide my language learners with a way to visualize what is happening as I assess their performance. Another benefit for having a project rather than a TV is that I will be able to attach the projector to my computer, video camera or digital camera which will give them a wider range of media material rather than just a DVD or VHS tape.

I am positive that a video projector will make a huge impact on the success of my students because of its capability and versatility.

Improving the technology of my physical education class will not only benefit their education now but help them build a foundation for their future fitness goals. I believe that we "learn by experiencing." If we can improve the experience of a student, we will improve their ability to learn.
