My Students

Our classroom is full of diverse learners. I have some students who can only read 1 word in a minute while others are reading 152 words a minute. This range makes it challenging to meet the needs of all learners. But I am up for that challenge! These Chromebooks will allow students to enhance their skills in each subject area while I am working with a different leveled group. Our Principal always says that "we are the best school in the state of Delaware and probably the universe". I could not agree more with her statement. Our students come from a diverse background. Every student is able to get FREE breakfast and lunch daily. Some students even get bagged meals to eat each weekend. Many students do not have a home computer and don't even know how to log onto a computer. However they are amazing children who persevere to be all they can be when they walk into my room. These Chromebooks will come in handy throughout our day. Students will be able to use them in the morning time to enhance their math and reading skills by going onto different websites that allow them to complete activities based on their skill level. They will also get to use them during reading time to research animals so they will be able to write about an animal of their choice and present it to the class. The computers will also be a great addition to center time. In math students will be able to use a program called Dreambox. Dreambox allows students to work on math related topics based on their skill levels. This will help struggling students with basic skills as well as help students who are above grade level to continue to grow as students while I am not working with them. These computers will give some of my students exposure to a world they might not be able to experience. The computers will allow for more students to be online during the day to work on curriculum related websites.
