To Protect & Learn the Skills of PRINTMAKING!

My students need printmaking supplies and materials to create meaningful prints and stamps for numerous K-5th grade projects.

My Students

Help protect my students' clothing and help them experience all types of printmaking that can happen in the art room!

My 350 students are from a low income area and rarely experience art outside the art room.

Students attended school from 8-3:45, and sometimes I only see them an hour a week. Almost all of my students enjoy art and tell me how excited they are to come to art when they arrive at 7:30 A.M. and I don't see them in class until 2:30p.m.

My Project

The materials will supply kindergarten through 5th graders to create meaningful prints using block printing techniques and give students the opportunity to present a story using a different medium. The 5th graders will use the easy cut linoleum block printing and create a metaphoric symbolic self-portrait. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders will use the print-foam to create incised texture printing plates and stamps for various projects such as quilting patterns, animal drawings, and pop art images. These projects will relate to traditions, environment, and visual culture. They will use the popsicle and stylus sticks for craving and the markers for easy continuous printing. The 1st graders and kindergartners will be using the gyotaku fishes, sea forms, and reptiles to create meaningful prints that illustrate a story. All grades will use the aprons for clothing protection and will be used for future painting projects. All grades will also use the ink, paper, and brayers when printmaking.

I feel that I owe it to my students to bring them exciting, new projects with a twist to engage them in art making techniques.

By building up my printmaking studio, students will gain the knowledge of different types of printing methods and they will create prints that tell a story and develop an artist statement that tells that story. Help us do that! Thank you in advance for reading my proposed project and for any donation provided! We all thank you!
