My Students

Have you ever had the chance to watch eggs while incubating, candle eggs to see progression inside and watch eggs hatch and grow? My students are looking to share in this experience!

We are a kindergarten inclusion classroom consisting of 19 children, including special education students.

We are located within a high poverty district. The children come from difficult backgrounds with few experiences. My students are very visual and very hands on learners. We do a great deal with hands on science in my classroom.

My Project

Hatching eggs and being part of the process from beginning to end will help my students to understand and appreciate the life of chickens. They will watch this amazing process, record and observe what is happening at each stage. They will also be able to watch the chicks grow for two weeks after hatching and observe the tremendous changes they undergo in just a short period of time. They will be responsible for their care as well. Very few of my students get to experience visiting a farm or a zoo. They do not have exposure to animals in these various locations. As sad as this is, I'd like to bring a farm experience into the classroom that the students can be a part of and responsible for. Please help me to make this experience a reality for them!
