Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it was like to be in elementary school and imaging what it was like in middle school? I teach elementary science and my students often ask me what science will be like in middle school.

My students are raised in a gang infested, low income area with minimal educational support at home.

As a teacher I try to offer the best I can with daily work and enrichment I brought into the science lab. With no school budget for the "wow factor", my students often ask such questions as, "What do schools in rich areas have that we don't have?" and "Can I get as good a job when I grow up as a students from a rich area?"

My Project

The resources I am requesting will give my science room a definite "wow factor". My students deserve to walk into a science lab and "feel like a big kid from a rich school". The items requested will be either displayed (model animal skulls, ant farm, Galileo Thermometer), or used (tornado tubes, electroscope, and humidity gage).

I strive to help my students reach their potential and I believe that the right environment is conducive to help students reach their potential.

I try to instill self confidence and self awareness in my students.
