Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes is an important part of childhood. Unfortunately, like the Bo Peep rhyme Mother Goose has lost her way. In this new technological age of the Internet, video games, cell phones, iPods, etc. Mother Goose needs a facelift to engage and excite student learning.
I teach at a high poverty school.
I have an all day Pre-Kindergarten class. The majority of my students are English language learners. My students have a wide variety of abilities and skills. My class is the first opportunity for my students to be exposed to a high quality curriculum based program to ready them for kindergarten and beyond.
My Project
I am requesting an interactive Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme CD-ROM library with corresponding leveled books. I'm fortunate to have an interactive whiteboard and need resources to allow these classic rhymes to come alive to encourage student participation and involvement. White board activities are an important teaching tool that excites and engage students beyond simply reading the rhymes.
Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes are important to early learning because they provide repetitive sounds that are crucial to learning to read. These classics introduce narrative, develop language, promote social skills, increase listening skills, build imagination and promote a love of reading books. These invaluable tools will give Mother Goose the facelift she deserves to engage student learning in this new technological age.
I'm proud to be a teacher and playing such a vital role in the lives of my students.
Many of my students haven't had the opportunity to hear and learn Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and I want to provide them with the tools and resources to best excite and engage them in learning these classics.
