The Mozart Effect

My project needs 10 boom boxes to give students exposure and appreciation for classical music.

I am vice principal at a charter school. Ninety percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Our students are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. This past year, I introduced some of our students to classical music for the very first time. Then as they would enter my office, they would ask if they could listen to Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. The music really helped them calm down and be able to concentrate on the academic tasks at hand.

Our students deserve to experience the beauty and calming effects of classical music. Each of our teachers should have a music center set up for the students. It is difficult to put CD/radio players into a school budget when there are more things that others think need top priority. Last year, my students were enthralled with the classical music and said how calming it was and they could study better than before.

It is important that students be introduced to the world of classical music and the works of the masters of classical music. Our students must be knowledgeable on classical music topics and the various affects of classical music on the brain. Our students are eager to learn all they can and the guidance by the teachers will allow them to become fully enriched human beings.

You can help open a whole new world to our middle school students. With your help, our students can have their lives enriched by the exposure to the masters of classical music. They will be able to describe Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, and relax to the sounds of Mozart's masterpieces. You will allow these wonderful experience to happen for our students. Along with the CD/radio players, it would be inspiring to the students if you shared your love of classical music by contributing your favorite CD and a little bit of information about what you think they can learn from the music you have chosen. Open the world of classical music to our students. Thank you for your support.
