The Ease of an Easel

My students need a Copernicus Premium Royal Inspiration Station to explore reading and writing.

When you enter my kindergarten classroom visitors are always struck by how busy everyone is. Children with a variety of needs and abilities are working together. Students are eager to show everyone around their classroom. They want to share what they have made in addition to the books and texts they can read.

I would love the opportunity to condense many different areas into one space where the students and I are able to focus our time and energy. My pocket charts have a separate location and often need to be pulled out of storage for use. There are three easels in use in my room as well as two pocket chart stands. Right now I have markers on the book shelf, pointers in the corner, and the chart paper in the middle. Our theme books are on a bookshelf to the left of the paper. This set up does not work well and fingers get stepped on by peers, and kids are tripping over each other get a books.

I have chosen this easel specifically for a number of reasons. It's mobile and having wheels will allow me move it around the room or into the hallway. This easel has room for chart paper for our daily message as well as room for us to practice writing on the whiteboard side. There is space underneath the chart paper to place the objects we use to read our morning message such as markers, pointers, and “witchy” fingers. There would be a space for our theme books so that kids will know right where to find them.

Your help will be giving my students better access for modeled reading and writing. You will be making it possible for the kindergartners of my classroom to interact in daily reading and writing activities. This gesture will give students ownership over not just their classroom but their reading and writing skills they use this easel.
