My Students
Technology has become a useful tool in the classroom. The bright visuals and audio attract and hold my students attention.
I have eight students that happen to have severe and profound disabilities.
Things that we take for granted are a challenge for them. They have special personal wheelchairs and depend upon adults for all of their mobility needs. Most are visually impaired. Yet they manage to laugh and play in spite of the many obstacles they face.
My Project
My students would benefit from a widescreen monitor with brilliant graphics. There are many educational programs designed specifically for students with disabilities. The problem is we only have a small monitor and no matter how hard we try to position the students around it, many cannot see the display. The larger display and brighter graphics would be easier for them to see. I would also like to include speakers since the ones we have are old and have a lot of static. They won't last much longer.
A large screen will be a great asset in my classroom.
I can use the large screen with so many wonderful teaching programs available. There are so few things that my students can do. Through technology, a whole new world is at their fingertips.
