My Students
We live in a tech savvy environment. Books are on the Internet and my kids play review games on the computers every day. They love technology!
I teach a group of 5th graders who are funny, outgoing, and talkative, and there is never a dull moment.
I teach in an urban setting and my school qualifies for Title I funds because 90% or more of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. In urban education, teachers make things happen on a shoe string budget.
My students need 20 sets of headphones, a laminator, and laminating pouches to make our classroom run more efficiently. We really need this technology to help my students review for assessments and learn using our web-based programs.
My Project
I am requesting the headphones to give my students the ability to concentrate when completing online assessments, educational games, and reading digital books. We often have to rotate headphones or borrow them from another classroom and they usually do not have enough. The thermal laminator will be used to laminate some of the reading passages and math games that my students work on in small groups with tutors, with me, or when working independently. This will help us preserve our activities throughout the year for repeated use.
This project will make a world of difference in the lives of my students.
They will be excited to know that headphones are available for their use each day and that we can laminate the things that we use and need without worrying about the laminating machine that is usually not working.
