My Students
I remember in fifth grade getting to use a computer for the first time. Everything on the computer was green, but boy did my world ever expand and change at that moment. So many of my students do NOT have access to technology at home. I want to give them the same opportunity I had with technology.
I have a class of 17 first graders who I will loop with to second grade.
We go to a public school in a small rural farming community. Many of my students do not have a computer at home and many do not have access to Internet. School is the only place to gain access to technology for many of my students. With only 2 computers in the classroom, I am limited with how many students can interact with the technology at a time.
My Project
I am requesting a Microsoft Surface tablet, protection plan, cover, screen protector, and stylist for my students. Having a tablet in my room will give students a different type of technology to interact with in addition to our two classroom computers. With a tablet we would have access to countless learning apps to help teach math, spelling, reading, writing, and phonics.
Students will be able to access the Internet to research and explore various topics. In addition to learning valuable skills for reading and arithmetic, students will gain valuable exposure to the use of current technology, which will forevermore benefit them in this technology driven world.
