My Students

Remember the first time you used technology in a classroom? Technology can be a magical experience, especially for students who don't have access to technology at home. These days, educators are responsible for teaching more than the content in a textbook. Technology is the gateway to the future!

My students love technology!

They're always eager to explore new concepts and ideas. Those concepts come to life when technology is involved. An Apple TV would greatly expand my class' creativity during science and reading lessons. Technology is also a great way to engage learners that might otherwise have a hard time staying focused in class. Visual learners benefit from seeing the content and interacting with it, rather than just hearing it from the teacher's mouth. The Apple TV will allow my students to connect with, and relate to, the content being taught in the classroom. My students will also have the unique opportunity to use their iPads to instruct the class when presenting assignments given to groups of students. My students are sponges - they soak up everything I say. The Apple TV will allow students to share the knowledge they soak up with those around them. This resource will also empower students because they will be learning 21st century skills first hand.

My Project

My students have already benefited from a Donor's Choose project, but we're already eager for more! The Apple TV and iPad cases would ramp up our ability to interact with the content being taught in reading and science. Reading ideas can seem abstract and dull, but the Apple TV, with the use of applications on the iPad, will enable visual learners to see and hear the new content simultaneously. The Apple TV will also allow the teacher to move around during whole group instruction, rather than staying up front. Movement by the teacher helps keep students engaged and focused on whole group lessons. Students will also be able to use their iPads during presentations, switching between applications to present findings from experiments or reading lessons. Additionally, students will be able to use the iPad cases to protect the new resources we recently received. The iPad cases will allow students to prop up the iPad in order to make typing and interface easier and more efficient.

Students will be able to work in small groups to create projects, which they will then be able to present using the Apple TV. The iPad cases will allow groups of students to sit around an iPad and all see the content at once. Without the cases, the field of view is limited to one or two students. The Apple TV and iPad connection will greatly enhance the learning environment in my classroom.
