Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Using STEM technology in World History will allow my students to connect the past and the future in a tactile and meaningful way.
My students attend the only significantly diverse public school in the Black Belt of Alabama.
We are extremely rural and have little to no extra funding for non-necessities. In spite of that, we consistently perform among the best schools in the state and are producing top quality students who are engaging citizens and critical thinkers.
My Project
My students will use the MakerBot to build models of ancient historical sites like the Great Lighthouse, the Collesium, and the Great Wall. This will help engage them more in the material than memorizing facts and also help them make the connection between history and technology advances. Further, I truly believe kids learn differently. This equipment would be a huge boon for kids that are tactile learners and my kinesthetic learners.
This donation would revolutionize the way I can present history lessons by allowing me to make it touchable.
Further, my school is small and we collaborate so I am certain we would share the MakerBot and it would benefit our science and engineering teachers as well.
