My students need 4 tablets to become proficient in technology in our 21st century world!

Do you remember the first time you used a tablet? Do you remember that feeling of amazement when you realized new knowledge was just at your fingertips? Put Samsung Galaxy tablets into the hands of my second grade students and give them the tools to be successful in the 21st century!
At our French immersion, International Baccalaureate school, students use inquiry-based learning to become real-world problem solvers.
My inquisitive second grade students are active participants in a lifelong journey of knowledge and through daily rigorous instruction, they explore themes of global significance. Students spend the entire school day in the target language, reading, writing, speaking and interacting in French. While we explore traditional elementary school themes, we do so through a bilingual lens which enhances our global perspective and ideas of citizenship. As an independent, free, public school, students from diverse backgrounds across the city come together for the school day, bringing with them a variety of experiences and prior knowledge. With equal access to the latest technology in our classroom, all students would be better positioned to be successful in this information-based, highly technological, 21st century society.
Did you know that technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes? We all use technology to solve problems and create new and easier ways of performing tasks. In my second grade classroom, these 4 tablets would open new doors to students from an under-served community. In the classroom, students will be able to quickly investigate topics of interest as well as work collaboratively to research and share new knowledge. These tablets will be ideal for small group or individual use throughout the school day. Students will love using them during daily centers for research on our unit themes, to design final projects or to use to read eBooks. With the tablet protection plans, we will also have the peace of mind to take the tablets with us on walks in our neighborhood. We can not wait to use the tablets to document all of the real-world math that surrounds us (especially angles and shapes)!
Technology is pervasive in nearly every aspect of our lives today.
With 4 Samsung Galaxy tablets in our classroom, students will become more autonomous and be able to produce exemplary outcomes. Tablets will open doors to science, technology, engineering and math. These open doors will lead students to become global competitors and valuable community contributors. Give my students the tools to be inquirers and problem solvers!
