What do you think a planetarium would be like without a sound system? Sure the images would be amazing, but without sound students' attention goes out the door.
My students are 10th through 12th grade astronomy amateurs.
They attend school in a small, rural area. Most of my students are sons and daughters of ranchers. They are hardworking, dedicated, and curious about the world around them. They attend sky observations every month with their classmates, as well as make informal observations of the sky on their own. They most recently worked together to build a cardboard planetarium for our school from scratch.
My Project
With the construction of the planetarium behind them, students are in need of just one more resource to complete their planetarium construction journey, a 3-way tower speaker. With the addition of a permanent sound system, students will be able to share astronomy knowledge with their peers and elementary students through sound enhanced planetarium shows. The sound system will bring their created planetarium shows alive for all audiences. The sound system will create an ambiance for aspiring astronomy students and, hopefully, inspire them to learn more about astronomy science.
With a decreasing enrollment, our school is not fulfilling retiring teachers' positions.
I have taken on three science courses. With a decreasing budget, I need materials that I can use from year to year without making further purchases. This 3-way tower will allow me to continue to use the planetarium with all my classes and the elementary school students.
