Supplies For Success: Stocking Up For Next Year

My students need construction paper and markers to start off next year with a bang.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember boring sentence strips that were white? Remember having to make a literary chart on notebook paper? Remember how unexciting, boring, and plain annoying that was? Well guess what, my 6th grade students think the same thing! That's why we need construction paper and markers!

I work with 6th grade students in an urban school district.

Our school is over 1,000 students; and that's very large for a middle school! I teach Reading and Language Arts, but unfortunately the students don't love to read as much as I do. That is why each and every day I try to come up with new and interesting ways to ignite the flame so that one day my students can be as successful as I am.

My Project

We need this construction paper so that the students can use it in projects. I remember, even when I was in high school, when teachers wanted you to make a chart or a drawing on lined notebook paper. That drove me insane, learning should be fun! In order to pump up the fun in my classroom we do most of our projects on construction paper. Not only does this get the students interested but it also makes our walls look good when I hang the work. If we have all this nice paper we of course need markers to go with it. Who would want to use boring old pencils on all that pretty paper?

I feel that this is so important because when you make learning fun the students get involved.

Not only am I creating an interest in doing their school work, but I can also teach them valuable life lessons with these materials. I can teach the students the importance of being conservative with materials, and respecting what others have donated to them. These are really important lessons that every kid should learn. Please help us learn and have fun at the same time!
