My students need sensory tools to prepare their minds and bodies for learning in the classroom.

My Students

Get us ready to learn! Our bodies are tense, our minds may get "stuck", but when or sensory needs are met, AMAZING learning begins.

Autism affects all of the students in our kindergarten through 3rd grade class.

We are a public elementary school in a somewhat rural area. Each of our students is unique and each one casts a bright light of enthusiasm. Each is affected by autism in a different way, but the similarity is their sensory systems need activity to get their bodies and brains ready to learn.

My Project

Enter our classroom at various times in the day and you will see a students bouncing, shaking heads, flapping hands, or wrapped up tight in a blanket. An unexpected sight for most, but these kids are trying to make their bodies feel clam. The sensory tools donors will provide will meet the needs these kids bodies are seeking. Our bouncing kiddos will be able to sit still after hoping on the peanut and therapy ball. The fidgets build finger strength for fine motor work and keep busy hands still and eyes on the teacher. A heavy blanket on our students' shoulders and laps brings an instant sense of relief; you can watch their muscles relax and posture change instantly. Wigglers love to be squished under the big therapy ball or made into a hot dog wrapped in a heavy blanket. Students with autism feel "out of sorts" and these tools make them feel safe and good. When anyone feels safe and good, amazing learning can happen.

Your donation will help students learn to manage the feelings that come with autism.

They are able to enter a general education classroom and learn with peers. This impacts their social skills and prepares them for life in general. These supplies will help kids everyday for years to come.
