Super Scientists!

My students need these materials, such as a model solar system, science exploration kits, and observational tools, to support the first grade science curriculum.

My Students

Do you remember getting excited every time you did a new science experiment in class? I can't wait for my students to experience that same sense of wonderment and awe as they learn all about organisms, space, forces of motion, and earth materials-all while becoming SUPER SCIENTISTS!

My first grade students attend a magnet school in NC, which focuses on a curriculum that immerses students in the humanities, authentic literature, and art.

Our school values diversity and uniqueness, encouraging mutual respect for everyone. By integrating the humanities, literature and the arts in all we do, we encourage our students to be creative thinkers and high achievers.

My Project

Each item requested supports the first grade science curriculum based on the Common Core standards. With these hands-on materials, students will get to make their own observations and conclusions, helping them to gain a greater understanding of the content being studied. They will use these materials to research, observe, examine and model the scientific concepts they are learning. For example, students will use a mineral study kit when studying earth materials to compare and contrast the different properties of minerals. During our study of space, students will get to manipulate an interactive 3-D model of the solar system, while discovering facts and recording the new information learned. It even has a built-in quiz function so that students can take responsibility for their learning! A "Can-Do" Motion Kit will let students experiment first-hand with the laws of motion. "Magnifier Creature Peepers" will allow students to see a magnified view of the organisms they are studying.

Your donation to this project WILL make a difference in our classroom.

All of these materials are meant to be used by the students, giving them a first-hand experience in what is being studied. Students will be able to learn by doing, which is by far the most influential means for getting students engaged and excited for the topics being studied, while also instilling a sense of responsibility for their own learning. Help each student become a SUPER SCIENTIST by donating to this project!
