Students Speak Out Against Smoking Through Sidewalk ART

My students need sidewalk chalk, rulers and tempera paint to continue our campaign against smoking and to raise awareness about lung cancer.

My Students

Be the one to help students raise awareness about the dangers of smoking. My students want to make a difference, but they need help. They know that their talents in art can be used to spread positive messages across our community.

I have the pleasure of teaching 187 talented young people.

They are polite, well-mannered and strive each day to leave their mark in the world. They attend a major public high school in Louisiana. I try to teach my art students that they have a gift and they should share their talent with others. Many of my students are also physically, and mentally challenged, but you would never know this if you would see their artwork. To some this is the only class that they Ace. I have personally paid art fees for some because their parents are struggling financially. I could not imagine telling a child they cannot do something they love because you cannot afford it. These students want to make a difference. They have so much to offer.

My Project

Across the nation thousands of people are dying of lung cancer. Most of them started smoking at a very young age. My art students want to spread the word about the dangers of smoking through art. They want to design artwork on the sidewalk around our school with vivid messages about the dangers of smoking. They need chalk, rulers, and tempera paint in order to bring their project to life. They believe that teenagers have the power to make a difference. You can help them do this.

Please help make a difference not only in my student's lives but also in many others.

We are asking for your help, financially, to help make this dream come true. These students make my art program a success because they are so determined to leave their mark and make a difference with their talent. Please help support our project.
