Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

Programming with robots is a great opportunity to learn, to figure out problems and obstacles. The students in my class will discover that there are solutions and rewards to each challenge.

One major part of our elective class is to building a tangible culminating project. As the students were brainstorming, one group decided that they want to display what they have learned through the programming of robots. They will use these robots to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics goals.

The Student teams will learn leadership skills and interpersonal skills by working together on how to build these projects. They will gain confidence when they are able to teach others about the building process. This will help them prepare for interviews, college essays, public speaking, and the future.

In Their Own Words

We want to use robots and tablets to learn how to program. I think it is a good way for us to learn because it is more interesting than the textbooks. Our group wants to explore what computer programming is like, since we have never used anything like it before.

We will work with our teacher to come up with projects and activities that will challenge us. We are usually focused on having fun, but Mr. Wu will always guide us to make sure we stay focused and help us achieve our goals for learning.

This project is important to us because it allows us to explore what robotics and computer programming is. I think it will give many students a new interest in technology and how to use it to solve daily problems.
