My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world."~ Mahatma Gandhi. My students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day. I'd like to help my students expand their dreams by providing the digital resources needed to capture their digital world and make it a greener place!

We are a local South Florida school that has participated in ecology programs over the last three years.

I have conducted in class and club activities designed to help students become peer educators and mentors to students within our school and community. I accomplish this through research, education, and hands on exploration of real-world science concepts and issues that face our planet and future generations while enhancing S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts and instruction together with effective communication skills. Our school has won a number of awards for our efforts including second place in our district for Green Education and energy reduction at our school of 2 % last year. We teach students from all walks of life and hope to have their global citizenship carry on to future generations in hopes of reducing our carbon footprints.

My Project

Students will use the iPad Mini to conduct research on various green school topics in class and through a free after school club. The data will be used for green campaigns in our school and community. Some of these include: Energy reduction campaigns, water conservation education, waste reduction campaigns, car pollution reduction initiatives, and education in the water-energy nexus, the connection between water consumption and energy use. We need cameras & ink to create videos and photographs for presentations to our school, families, and community leaders as well as to document nature and our tree planting efforts. It is our goal to reduce energy consumption by an additional 2% or greater this year. Further to this, we will utilize technology to disseminate our message to student peers and our community leaders. I know that, if we teach them while young, students will carry these good habits into adulthood and teach others to do the same for posterity!

Our elementary school students are at an age where they still feel that they can make a difference in our world.

I'd like to develop their desire to make the world a better place by showing them that they can make a big difference through small changes. Hopefully, these students will grow up to become conscientious leaders and citizens that can make an impact in our futures. Additionally, they will do all of this while having fun and enhancing S.T.E.M. concepts.
