My Students

Watching the engineering process in action by students, gives one a reason to feel great about the future of our kids. Our students participate in design using CAD and then actually fabricate the 100lb robot for competitions in First Robotics Competition (FRC).

We are a rural school in south Louisiana.

Over 60% of our student population is on free or reduced lunch. Inspiring these students to overcome their economic/social handicaps and succeed in the engineering process, is truly a worthy endeavor. Our robotics group consist of students of all grade levels. In fact we have several former students who return after graduation each year to become mentors for the new students. Our students also participate in community service events. This past October the students organized and participated in a blood drive for the local community

My Project

Every January, our students get a new competition with FRC in which they have six weeks to design and build a robot. For last year's competition, the robot had to pick up and shoot Frisbees in various goals. The robot also had to be capable of climbing a 10' high pyramid shaped ladder. The process, as you can imagine, requires several prototypes to be designed, built, and tested. With a 3D printer, we will be able to quickly design various parts for the robot to be tested. Students will learn various skills using CAD/CAM, material design, and fabrication.

My students need a 3D printer to handle the increasing demand for printing projects.

The ability for students to be able to go from an idea, to design, to fabrication using the 3D printer enhances their natural creativity and problem solving skills. Students are astounded by the ability to not only design an object on the computer, but to actually create and use it in real life. Help! The student demand for print time is tremendous. We have a backlog of projects to print. Your donation will enable all students the opportunity to participate in a timely fashion.
