Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom is full of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking! We use what is going on in the world and our community to learn. By doing this my students are more interested and involved in the learning process.
My students are full of life!
More than half the students in my class speak another language. They love to read, write, discuss, experiment, illustrate, and learn in general. Our school is a Title one school, so a lot of my students come from a low socioeconomic background. I would describe our school as a happy safe place to be.
My Project
The donations from this project will help improve my classroom by enabling us to have a listening center. At least half of my students are English Language learners so reading and writing in English is a challenge. A listening center and books on tape would greatly help. While a group of students are at the listening center I will be able to take a small group and give them individual attention on their reading or writing.
The world map donation will help us see the world. We are learning a new "hello" every week in a different language. I would like us to use this map to see where people speak these languages and to see how far away these places are from us.
The listening center will help my students' lives for the better because it will improve their reading/ writing.
It will allow them to focus on a book and gives me an opportunity to have small group time.
