My classroom consists of all special needs students. They are all visual learners. They learn best with any visualization. This gives them a jump on learning. My goal for this project is to get each of my students on any form of technology in order to boost their learning potential.
My students learn best when they do not have to write and when they do not have to fight with spelling.
I feel that having technology in front of them will help them learn better, and in turn, help learning skills and concepts come alive and be easier to grasp. Having my students learn in any way possible is one of my goals. They all need to feel that being college and/or career ready is an achievable goal.
My Project
Having a Microsoft Surface tablet will help them bring STEM concepts alive. It will allow them to be able to design and implement the process of building, making, and seeing their ideas alive. Having an easy way for them to take simple notes on a tablet and turn it into a typed font is amazing and easy. With updated technology, having a tablet makes learning fun, easy and obtainable. I feel that my special needs students should be exposed to everything other children are exposed to. In my classroom, getting these updated resources is not always feasible. The school does not always give or buy resources that they feel are not a necessity. I can not help but feel that applied learning skills via any technology is a necessity!
Funding this project will make my students realize that their voice counts, and that what they have to offer others is as valuable as any student in a public school.
My students, even though they are considered special needs, are capable of producing the same projects, designs, and ideas as others and at times more so because they are so tuned into detail.
