This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember vinyl recordings or square dancing? Please help us to preserve these ancient arts to CD with the USB Turntable, Compact Music System, and Power Adapter requested for this project. Then, my students can enjoy forever dance, music and rhythm lessons! Hurry before the fragile vinyl is extinct!

A low income area would define the population of my elementary school.

A majority of these children would be classified as English Learners. My students come from good homes. However, most are on free meal plans, which includes both breakfast and lunch. The public school they attend is in a mostly safe residential area.

My Project

The materials for this project, a Sony USB Turntable, Micro Shelf Stereo System, and Power Adapter will change the lives of my students by allowing them to take part in dance, music, and rhythm lessons that are only available on vinyl at this time. These activities include square dances. The USB turntable will allow us to transfer the vinyl into digital CDs, which we can then play on the new Sony Micro Shelf Stereo System. Then the material from the ancient LPs will be preserved forever digitally. In the past, I have had to transfer vinyl to cassette tape with mixed results. This project will allow for digital editions. The activities I will be able to do with my students include the dance, rhythm, and, music, lessons that would otherwise be lost because of the fragile condition of my vinyl.

The materials in this project will allow us to preserve vinyl recordings using state of the art equipment.

Now that the ancient vinyl lessons will be transferred to CD, the dance, rhythm and music activities of the past would not become a lost art. They would be preserved not only for this group of students, but for those children of many years to come.
