My makers enjoyed learning the basics of soldering and are ready to take their skills to the next level. They want to practice soldering and make their own jewelry out of up-cycled electronics.
Over 49% of our students receive free or reduced lunch, but we don't want that to stop them from being the next Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.
They love creating and making things in our makerspace and have recently fallen in love with taking things apart. Now, they want to create new things with the old electronics our community has donated to us.
My Project
With the soldering stations and Elenco FM Radio kits, our students will perfect their soldering skills and then move on to crafting their own inventions with old electronics. Soldering is an essential maker skill that will open many doorways for our young inventors. We are partnering with the public library to host soldering workshops, but the two soldering stations from this project will remain on our campus for students to use as needed. Once the students have practiced soldering with the Elenco and Velleman kits, they will move on to designing their own jewelry and wearable technology. Their new found soldering skills will allow them to draft together circuit boards, use existing motors, and create new wearables out of discarded technology.
Your donation will help our students build on this new-found skill while enabling our students to create their own jewelry designs.
This project will help our students feel the empowerment of thinking, making and improving their own designs. Thank you for helping our students experience the power of unlimited possibilities.
