This project expired on June 10, 2015.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, students are learning engineering design through project-based learning. Students work in pairs or groups to research, design, build, test, analyze and present an engineering design project. I hope that my students develop deeper critical thinking and problem solving skills.

My students are a diverse mix of 7th and 8th graders from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

They are curious, inventive, and enthusiastic about the challenge of the various STEM projects they encounter throughout the year. They attend a school that is in the heart of an urban port town in California. My students taken pride in their cities, families and cultures. They strive to do their best for themselves, their schools and their families.

My Project

With these materials, students will learn about rocketry, trajectory, parachute design, and forces. Students will design a water bottle rocket that can fly as high as possible and deploy a parachute at the top of the launch. Students will design and assemble the materials to make their projects. They will launch them using the foot pump and rocket launcher. During the launch, they will measure the height of the rocket launch using basic mathematics techniques.

Your generous support and donations for this project will have a permanent and lasting impact on my students.

Your donation will create a positive echo in each student's life which will propel them into the future with motivation, knowledge, and skill. Donations to this project will make a difference because the focus of this project is on 21st Century skills for students that will create a positive impact on our local and global communities.
