My Students

You know that everything you learned, you learned in kindergarten. Today, that is truer than ever. Our standards are more rigorous and our students need to meet them using today's technology. With interactive software, we can use the SMART Board and computers to excel in reading and math.

I have a class of 16 kindergarten students (14 regular education and 2 Special Ed.) who live in a low socioeconomic area of Columbus.

Some students do not have a computer or the Internet in their homes. By using interactive software, I will be able to deliver whole group instruction using the SMART Board and then individualizing to students on the student computers in the classroom. These programs give instant feedback and interact with the student as he/she performs.

My Project

The SMART Board is a new novelty in most classrooms and as a teacher, I want to use it to its fullest potential. At present, we are using the SMART Board for all subject areas as I find interactive sites and games already available. With this software, my whole group instruction can be more specific and meet the standards I am teaching. Also, it's hard to believe that a lot of my children do not have a computer or Internet access in their homes, but in our area, this is true.

The interactive software will be specific in what I am trying to teach and will give students the needed attention by instant reinforcement and feedback.

Whole group instruction using the interactive software will keep the kids attention and help to focus on the content area.
