My students need 2 Nooks, 8 headphones, and 2 headphone splitters for multiple headphones so that they can practice their sight words in small groups.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
21st century learners!! That is what our students are! I would love help in bringing technology into a first grade classroom. Imagine living in a low socio-economic area and coming to a classroom everyday that is full of learning with technology. That is what my students need!
Having 26 English Language Learners is amazing!
They are very sweet and very eager to learn! They love to learn and practice how to read and speak so they can practice at home with their parents!
Being in first grade, gives them the opportunity to start learning the foundation for their educational career! We learn how to read, add, subtract, and much more!
Our school is Title 1, meaning that 99% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. 2/3 of our school population is ELL (English Language Learners).
Our kiddos come from very different home lives and all we can control is what is going on at school. They deserve to have high quality materials so that they can learn and be model citizens in our country.
My Project
Having two Nooks in our classroom will be inspirational! I want my students to know that they are cared for and that they are having an excellent education.
Having more technology in our classroom is essential to build 21st century learners. The students don't usually have computers or any other technology at home so it is important to have that opportunity for them so that they can be successful in life and in their future careers.
Having two Nooks available in our classroom will help us practice our sight words. Sight words are words that can't be decoded...they have to be memorized. The students will be able to work with Apps that have sight words, watch sight word videos, and read sight words!
The Nooks could also be used during math small groups where the students are practicing addition and subtraction facts and they could be used for reading books!
The possibilities with Nooks are endless!!
This will make them excellent readers!
