My students need technology in our classroom. One student who is special needs will be able to use this item, a Galaxy Tablet.

My Students

I have a few special needs in my class, with one in particular who was just now fitted with a pointing device that enables him to use a computer or tablet. I do not have one that he can use. I would love to see him be able to write sentences and express himself using a tablet.

I teach the all day kindergarten class in my school.

The students are those who need extra help and assistance academically. I have students who are physically challenged and mentally challenged. I have ADHD, wheelchair bound, and autistic students as well as slow learners and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. This item would be an excellent way for them to learn.

My Project

My one student who is in a wheel chair does not have very much mobility. I have seen the OPT group fit him with a pointing device that could help him to use the device and propel him to greater heights of learning. I would love to see him achieve these heights and feel the excitement of learning and writing with this device. The other student would also benefit from this. I have an autistic student who would sit with this device learning and reading. It is hard to get him interested in the everyday learning but I have seen him with his special ed class using devices of this type and being engaged for longer periods of time in learning activities.

I believe with the aid of technology my students will be able to achieve beyond what is expected of them.

I see the potential of these students and with the help given them through this project they can feel the excitement of reaching heights that otherwise could well have been out of their reach.
