This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Gone are the days of taking weather measurements by hand, and my students know this. They want to use the real weather tools, not the "ancient" ones.

My school is in a high poverty area.

Over eighty percent of our population is on free or reduced lunch. They are bright students with a lot of potential. With a big change in curriculum this year, our school is lacking the materials that our students need to excel.

My Project

I am hoping to get six Sper Relative Humidity/Anemometer Pens so that groups of four students can go outside and take current weather measurements. Not only so they learn about weather and weather conditions at our school, but also so that they learn about collecting data.

Because of the nature of science, and the high probability that my students' future lives will have something to do with a field of science, I believe that my students need as much practice collecting data as they can get.

In order for them to care they need a real world application for the data. This project can do both.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
