This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." â€Â"Frederick Douglass. My students need to be free and need a little help along the way. Being able to actually see the words and listen to them at the same time will greatly help their fluency and comprehension.

Our school is a Title I school in Texas, meaning more than 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Our students can barely come to school with the materials they need to be successful and it is even harder when the teachers don't have the materials to help them either.

My Project

I am requesting a copy of all the nominated Texas Bluebonnet Award books for our classroom library as well as an iPod touch and accessories so that we can listen to the audio version of these books. Audiobooks can now be downloaded for free from local libraries and placed on iPods so that children can listen to them, which include many books that are already in our library!

I believe that children need to be exposed to all modes of learning, including those students who find reading difficult.

Being able to see and hear the words to many of our books and having access to the nominated books will enhance their learning ten-fold!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
