My kiddos are an amazing group of students who come from diverse backgrounds and are eager and ready to learn.

We are an urban, charter, language immersion school, supporting children mostly from the city of St. Louis; yet students come from more than 30 zip codes across the metropolitan area to study with us. Over 60% of our students qualify for free and reduced price meals. Funds are in short supply, but they are dispensed judiciously to support our growing community. Throughout the week, I see an average of 135 students from third, fourth, and fifth grades. We have high expectations for all our children; knowing this, they aim high and work hard to achieve their goals. To enrich the classroom experience, students need a way to read books together, explore new materials, and develop research projects.

My Project

Technology in the classroom helps to promote high student engagement. We can encourage sharper focus by using a document camera, a projector, and an Apple TV. This will give me the ability to share books, online resources, videos, PowerPoint presentations, and pictures with my students. What a tremendous benefit it will be for us to have the ability to view materials simultaneously in the classroom! Students will be able to develop, present, and critique projects with their peers, while helping them gain self-confidence with every adventurous enterprise.

The addition of technology to our classroom will engender enhanced instruction and add new and exciting opportunities for learning in groups and individually.
