What grabs students attention more than the technology and the fast paced world around them?
Our school "actively promotes choice, critical thinking, problem solving, and character development of the whole child, enabling students to achieve academic excellence in a safe environment." The 5th through 8th grade students that have selected art as one of their electives are always looking for new and exciting ways to develop their artistic voice.
My Project
My middle school art students are looking for a way to capture the world around them and produce quality news and video productions. A new DSLR with HD video capability would be one step in achieving this goal. We are planning to host a weekly web series that focuses on the news and activities of our school. This camera would be a tremendous benefit to the quality of our work.
Every student needs a voice and art is a fantastic way for students to find and express their own personal voice.
I am always looking for ways to expand the artistic experience in my classroom. Video production is our next step in expanding the arts beyond the traditional media used in most middle school art rooms.
