Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a traffic jam! We need safe and splinter-free furniture that allows students to efficiently store their snacks, lunches, and folders as they enter the classroom.

My students are in Transitional Kindergarten and they are 5 years old.

These students are part of a new program that aims to make the kindergarten experience more developmentally appropriate for the schools' youngest learners. Our school is based on an inclusion model, which means that students with and without special needs all learn together.

My Project

These resources will allow my students to organize their materials and enter the classroom efficiently. When students are able to take care of their own supplies and possessions, this fosters their self-esteem and independence. We will use the "art cart" to stow our snacks and lunches, and the wheels will allow it to be moved inside in case of inclement weather. The storage "peninsula" will be used to organize homework, folders, and other materials. The double-sided shelving will allow us to maximize space and store math materials on the opposite side.

Donations to this request will help create the safe, efficient and beautiful classroom that all students deserve.
